"                                                                              Luke: The Unabridged Gospel

                                   By: Timothy E. Davis

"Several biographies of Christ have already been written...However, it occurred to me that it would be well to recheck all these accounts from first to last, and after thorough investigation to pass the summary on to you to assure you of the truth of all you were taught."  Luke 1:1-5 (TLB)

Luke was a medical doctor and a historian.  Just as a doctor must insure the accuracy of his patients diagnosis,  Luke wanted to insure the Gospel being taught was accurate, down to every last detail.  If a mans eternity depends on the correct information being presented, it is vitally important that this information be without error.

The Gospel of Luke differs from the others in that He is not presenting a new Gospel, although some new facts do come out. as verifying existing ones.   Luke was written to demonstrate that the Gospel accounts concerning the life of Jesus  circulating were accurate.  He might be called the fact checker of the Gospel.  He is trying to explain the Gospel to the Greeks, therefore, he must use a logical approach in explaining it to them.  In the end, He succeeds in his effort to do so.
