Jesus: The Spotless Lamb of God By: Timothy E. Davis “The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.” John 1:29 In ancient Israel, God received sacrifices in the form of animals. It was how the people showed their appreciation, love, and obedience to Him. He always demanded the best from His people. The animal to be sacrificed, then, was to be perfect; the cream of the crop. No blind, crippled, ill, or poor quality animals were to be used. Jesus, then, is called the Spotless Lamb because He was “the sacrifice to end all sacrifices”. He was the perfect lamb, a sacrifice pure and pleasing to His Father. So much so that God no longer needs nor accepts sacrifices. Christ, then, was truly the Lamb that took away our sins. It is He who I named this ministry after and it is dedicated to Him. Salvation is available to and intended for all mankind. It is not given, however, to those who do not request it. How do you request it? By asking Jesus to forgive all your sins, to come into your life and be your personal Lord and Savior. You must then tell others, and be baptized as an outward sign of your inward change. Salvation can never be earned, and the Bible tells us it is futile to even try. For it is a free gift, that God died for you to have it. Won't you receive this gift today?
